Mr. Harvey V. Cohen was employed by the State Attorney’s Office. As a state prosecutor, he handled thousands of criminal cases, conducted over 40 jury trials, executed extensive motion practice, and conducted countless depositions.
As a young man, Harvey enlisted in the US Army. He enrolled in the G.I. Bill program that ultimately helped him pay for college. Mr. Cohen earned his Bachelor’s degree from UCF with the help of the G.I. Bill. He then went on to law school at Stetson University College of Law in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
After graduating from Stetson, Mr. Harvey V. Cohen was employed by the State Attorney’s Office. As a state prosecutor, he handled thousands of criminal cases, conducted over 40 jury trials, executed extensive motion practice, and conducted countless depositions.
Later, Mr. Cohen branched out as a solo practitioner without staff or associates. He has since grown his firm to over 45 attorneys and 120 employees.
Following the hurricanes in Florida in 2004 and 2005, Mr. Cohen represented homeowners who suffered hurricane damage. He has handled thousands of insurance claims and is widely known in Florida and nationwide as the go-to attorney for cases related to the restoration industry.
Mr. Cohen has been a presenter for the Restoration Industry Association (RIA), the oldest and largest nonprofit professional trade association in the restoration field, representing over 20,000 members. He teaches continuing education courses approved by the IICRC, which certifies restoration professionals. His courses focus on insurance claims and contracts relevant to the industry.
In addition to still managing his insurance litigation practice, Mr. Cohen now also represents clients in their condominium association matters through Condo Association Attorneys, P.A.

Kyle Hyman

Mr. Kyle Hyman earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami in political science and economics. In 2012, Mr. Hyman received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law where he graduated with honors.
Mr. Hyman has dedicated his entire career to litigation. He served as an assistant public defender in the Ninth Judicial Circuit handling a wide range of criminal cases from misdemeanors to felonies.
After leaving the public defender’s office, Mr. Hyman practiced civil litigation representing residential and commercial property owners against their insurance carriers for property damage claims. He handled over 1,000 property insurance cases on behalf of his clients, including cases to jury verdict. Mr. Hyman has also handled landlord/tenant disputes, maritime law cases, and complex class action cyber security breach matters.
Mr. Hyman now also practices condominium association law, specializing in litigation matters on behalf of associations. From lien and foreclosure actions to multi-million dollar property damage insurance claims, Mr. Hyman has the experience to represent associations in whatever legal issue they are facing.

Mr. Jared McElwee earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in 2015, where he double majored in Political Science and Legal Studies. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 2018.
After graduating from law school, Mr. McElwee began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Florida, gaining valuable courtroom and litigation experience prosecuting on behalf of the State of Florida. He later transitioned into private practice representing homeowners and condominium associations in a wide range of community association matters, including covenant enforcement, lien foreclosures, and general association governance issues.
Since 2020, Mr. McElwee has focused his practice on representing policyholders in property damage disputes, advocating for individuals, associations, and businesses against insurance companies to ensure they receive the coverage and benefits they are owed. He has personally handled hundreds of claims against multi-million dollar corporations, gaining tremendous civil litigation experience.
He now brings that litigation and insurance claims experience back to his work representing condominium associations, providing strategic legal guidance and strong advocacy to protect communities and their boards. With a background that includes prosecuting criminal cases, representing community associations, and litigating against large insurance carriers and corporations, Mr. McElwee is well-positioned to provide condominium associations with strategic counsel and strong courtroom advocacy.
